Sorry, Robert, I didn't know you hadn't realized it. Actually, I said socialist, not Communist state. There is a big difference. Socialist is frequently employed in a relative sense. I used it to refer to the way the government seems to be imposing its will upon Canadians in an ever-increasing number of areas, most lately, in the field of morality. I know, of couse, that government interference is not solely a socialist characteristic; fascism had that quality too. Perhaps I should have referred to Canada as a fascist state. Whatever the right word is, I meant I resent the encroaching of big government in our everyday lives. Maybe I'm really an anarchist, but without the bombs. As to moving south of the border, we have enough saved up, so old age and sickness don't frighten me. Yes, despite Canada's ever-increasing tax burden, we have managed to save enough to enjoy a happy retirement in Canada, the US or anywhere else. And no, I hold no brief at all for George W. Bush.
