Eric and Suasan Hiscock spent a lifetime afloat on a series of 5 yachts named "Wanderer", and circumnavigated the world three times. They wrote "Cruising under Sail", and "Voyaging Under Sail", plus any amount of magazine articles. The two books were the first "how to go cruising" books for yachtsmen and women. They were very much pioneers in the busines of cruising in small yachts for a living. Susan was no passenger; she did the navigating because of Eric's poor eyesight [he eventually went blind, which stopped them voyaging, although Eric died on board Wanderer V]. Some time later, Susan returned to the Isle of Wight and took to dinghy cruising on The Solent well into her eighties.
