Piebald = of two colours irregularly arranged. Most commonly used of horses. As I understand it, for 'piebald' one of the colours has to be black. When a horse is 'skewbald' its colours are white and another colour but not black. Not sure why Nancy was piebald - perhaps the body heat and the cold rain had created red patches on her skin, in which case she should have been really described as 'skewbald'. Gosh, is this another rare AR error???
