Having followed this topic with interest I could not recall the remark that PeterH mentions, so I looked back through Prue's postings. I can only assume that this is the remark in question :

"But I don't belong to Tars and have no intention of joining, given the politics that seem neverending. So maybe that makes my contribution ineligible."

Firstly, as this was in regard to the question of whether Prue's contribution could/should be included in Mixed Moss, it seems to me to be totally on-topic.

Secondly, presumably the "gratuitous" bit is "given the politics that seem neverending." To me, it seems relevant to the topic - Prue is advising why she is not a member, which may or may not affect the eligibility of her contributions. Clearly she has that impression of TARS - one that may well be erroneous, but that does not change the fact that that is her impression and her reason for not joining.

Speaking as someone who is a member of TARS, but has so far not been able to take part in any activities and therefore meet any fellow TARS, I much enjoy the literature that comes my way and do not detect any politicking in it; in my opinion Prue is missing out by not joining, but that is her decision. The ongoing saga of the "Roche Report" does give off bad vibes but I would think that it has minimal impact on the vast majority of members and if Prue's impression of the organisation is based mostly on that, then she is depriving herself of the benefits of membership for no good reason.

It is rather sad that a fun idea - that of providing shortened versions of AR's stories - has resulted in a lot of chuntering in this way; I am inclined to think that Prue (and others) may well get the wrong impression from it as to how most TARS members see things, which is a shame. Everybody chill out !
