Has anyone else mentioned Susan's scoffing comment that 'people shouldn't be allowed to be brought up in towns' (I think from Winter Holiday) which rather implies that the Swallows weren't. Although I agree that it is never made clear where they WERE brought up (other than that they moved around a lot, to military bases, etc - references to Falmouth, for example).
Did the Ds go to boarding school? There are certain things in WH and PP which suggest that they did, although I wonder whether AR frankly didn't much care so long as their school had the same policy on mumps as the others...
(PS: Is anybody else intensely bored of the bickering about committee politics, etc? Whenever I bring up REAL politics on this board I get shouted down for my scandalous communist ways! Someone bring up something about a committee, and people are prepared to debate it for weeks!)
