"Seldom Scene" with a slightly different spelling, "Seldom Seen", is an attracive, isolated group of former miners' cottages in the Glencoyne valley, fairly high above Ullswater in the Lake District. If not known by Ransome, he would probably have been attracted to it .... there is a level, called Lucy's Level, joining Seldom Seen to the mines in Glenridding, through the miners walked each day to work. Slater Bob might have been proud of the name!
