Well, thanks for your comments everyone. Bridget Island has been moved somewhat in the light of Robert's contribution (although even in Secret Water itself it doesn't seem very close to Swallow Island.)

As to Why? -- mainly for fun. I started with The Lake map in order to consolidate on one sheet all the various features mentioned in the five Lake books. We all know that each book has its own main map, and sometimes some subsidiaries, but each map shows only a portion of the whole, the orientations and scales are often different, and (at least in the paperback versions) the legibility is pretty appalling. So this one map now allows me to see at a glance all the locations in their relative positions that are mentioned in whichever book I happen to be reading at the time.

Having done that, it seemed a good idea to do a "companion map" of Wild Cat Island, and then some time later one also of Secret Water. (There are no present plans to do the Norfolk Broads....)

"Secret Water" is of particular interest to me as a region, because the mixture of flat land, mud, and water is quite similar to where I live, on Western Port in SE Oz. (The photo was taken outside my back gate at low tide. My daughter would be out of her depth there at HW springs.)

As Secret Water is a real region as distinct from the imaginary one of the Lake area, I was able to make use of the 1:25,000 Multimap series as well as the sequential maps in the book itself in producing this map. However, severe storms in the 1950s breached many of the dykes and flooded a good deal of land which has never been reclaimed. So the Multimaps of Hamford Water show more water, less land, and more ragged coastlines than does the map of Secret Water.

But as far as e-books and interactive DVDs go, please include me out....

(Please note that the link to the draft map, mentioned in my first post, has now been removed. Dave Thewlis has kindly offered to post the final version of the map on the TARS site for anyone who wishes to view or download it.)
