From any position north of the Tropic Of Cancer, the Sun AT NOON is always to the south. At this time of the year, the rising sun comes up at ENE, and sets at WSW. Yet in the middle of the summer, it comes up in the SE and sets at WNW (approximate positions, depending on lattitudes). I got this from a software package that shows the sky from any place, at any time, and that is the way it looked from the viewpoint of London. (not the one in Canada, near to Detroit.)

Now let's see what kind of war this starts...

By the by, anyone interested in having this star finder software? Freeware. Send me EMAIL, and I will REPLY with that as an attachment. Fascinating to see. Shows the planets too, and that is hard to keep up with that changing scene otherwise.
