The fictional Swallows were taught to sail by their father at St Mawes (so AR could, if her had so desired, written a precursor volume to the series). Maybe that thought stuck in his mind as a landfall for the junk.
TARS South West Region has noted the Tall Ships event at Falmouth, and whilst there will not be an official TARS event to coincide, we are sure that many will want to see the ships - always a magnificent sight!
