Ed, the only S&A story set in the winter holidays is “Winter Holiday” and that is apparently set in January and February. I cannot recall any reference in the books to Christmas either (ie just as there is no reference to Boxing Day), though there may be the odd reference to Christmas presents.

The timings of PD, ML and GN are uncertain, but both ML and GN are set in summer. The summer holidays are in July and August, and sometimes extending into early September and late June.

Being in the Southern Hemisphere (New Zealand) we have the long summer holidays following on from Christmas and are into Barbeque weather; except that it is raining now, and my son has gone camping!

But in the Northern Hemisphere, you have a few days of for Christmas, and back to work?

PS: I have no comma after ML in “PD, ML and GN”; what would Ms Lynne Truss (Eats Shoots and Leaves) say?
