It's a long story actually - someone found a special meat (game?) company in northern part of Japan via the Internet. We do not eat rabbits except for rare occasion at a French restaurant and it was unusual for the company to take order from individuals. This time we had a Japanese rabbit, weighing almost 5 kg. I say 'this time' because we did it in November, too, at the Bi-annual General Meeting in Japan; and that time we had a brown-furred rabbit imported from England and a skinned one from France, with all of which had had been taken out the blood so it did not look so terrifying experience as imagined before. Some very brave explorers did the skinning according to a cookbook from England('No one who has not tried to take it off can know how firmly a rabbit's skin sticks to a rabbit').
The smells were a little strong but the stew was good.

So now we have added a very special dish to the long list of Ransome-ish menu.
The fur is going to be made into gloves by some other special company.
