AR makes singularly little use of history in his Lakes stories. Offhand, I can only think of a passing comment by the Amazons about the old Roman Road of High Street (now the Board will be deluged with other references to prove me wrong). Indeed, other than Dick's interest in Picts in PM and GN, I cannot think of any other historical references (not counting mentions of Prof Callum's work).
