I have to agree with Laurence; pintle at the base of the transom, gudgeon higher up, reversed on the rudder, is the way I've always seen. I'm desperately trying to remember the fitting on Cochy, pretty sure its as described . If it had varied it would have been more likley to have stuck in my memory. On the subject of possibly decrepit memories, are sure that Amazon / Mavis has a rod for a tiller? I don't remember one and surely AR are would have remarked on such an unusual device. Anyway John, "respect" as they say or used to say... what an effort I hope you are delighted by the result. I'm sure you will be. andyb
