The Scarab is the one we have the best drawings for in terms of recreating the old Skow. Dick's sketch is great.

The rear shot of the Swallow in SA shows the width AR intended for the boats. His boat is bigger than the Mavis.

Weight

3/8 inch planking of white oak, say 14 feet long at average 4 foot width of planking per foot deck, at 65 lbs per cubic foot -

The planking would weigh 120 lbs on its own and say the rest is another 120

total 250 lbs.

Big boat to drag out of the water, probably the reason they liked the harbour as she did not have to be lifted out.

IF one considers that the stern should just be desinged to miss the water in a good design then the Swallow I designed has a weight of about 250 lbs if we assume two 100lb sailors.
