I was sufficiently taken with AR at age 14 (1948) to make my Dad drag me camping all around Windermere, also Pin Mill, Secret Water.
Sadly - as other TARS have remarked- the 2nd & 3rd generation don't seem impressed - it seems that Harry Potter (or, for the adults, Brideshead, Austen, TE Lawrence's cottage, & other movies/BBC serials) carry more weight. I would agree that all these attractions have been wonderfully preserved. Whoever is in charge will obviously keep this going. In 3 weeks of touring around (the Birmingham Toll Motorway helping enormously?) a family can spend a lot of money at $1.70 to the GBP. And worth every penny.
