I first drove in the U.K. in 1985 and do so whenever I go there. I've never had a problem with left versus right or shifting with my left versus right hand. (Fortunately the right foot still controls the accelerator and the left the clutch/brakes; I think I'd really have problems if those were reversed.) The problem I HAVE had is unconsciously drifting to the right when on a road with no other automobiles; as long as there is other traffic it's easy to go with the flow.

Roundabouts have been VERY uncommon in the U.S. but they are starting to appear as an effective way of controlling cross traffic. There are much larger versions (unimaginatively called "circles") especially in Washinton D.C. where the architect overlaid a North-South and East-West grid with a diagonal set of spokes and used the circles to handle the complicated intersections which resulted (they were also useful for housing statues). The traffic does flow widdershins around them; generally they are so large that the questions of navigating a roundabout don't arise.
