While not exactly ARGUMENTS between the characters, there were many places when someone disagreed with another character, simply by not believing what that person has stated.

This topic of "I don't believe in you" was thrashed out on this web previously, several months ago, but it did point out misunderstandings, disblief, criticism, that although did not result in yelling and screaming, did seem to put someone DOWN.

Example: In SA, Titty said she heard the burglars on Cormorant Island in the middle of the night, but Susan dismissed the idea, saying she must have been dreaming.

Example: In WH, The D's had gone on to the North Pole, aparently in advance of when all the others were planning to go, so they were a bit put out to have to make a middle of the night in the cold rescue mission because the D's apparently could not be trusted to obey orders (the signals hung on the rear of Holly Howe, saying "Come to the FRAM".) Although glad to find the D's ok at the NP, they were a bit reserved, silently showing their disapproval, until Nancy explained that they were indeed obeying orders which were, "Flag at Beckfoot == go to Pole".

But there was that initial irritation and friction directed against the city people that still somehow had not truly shown how to FIT - whereas in reality, they were the only ones to have obeyed the orders. So it was some hostility, but all over a misunderstanding.

In WDMTGTS, there were the arguments, mainly between Susan and John about going on, or turning back, which actually only got resolved by resorting to the ultimate rule of The Captain is in charge, and there can only be one captain, so even though Susan argued with John, they still had to go along with his decision. Of course, she began to see the wisdom of his choice when he tried once to turn back, and the head- on winds were such a shock that Susan changed her tune rather quickly.

So there were some conflicts, disagreements, some arguments, but no "fights" - not counting the play war when the Amazons joined the Eels to attack the Swallows in Secret Water.

But I sure am glad that Nancy did not hit anyone when she fired her arrow at the Swallows on the occasion of their first meeting at Wild Cat. There was "play" that could have gone bad, quite accidentally, but with serious consequences, which thank goodness did not cause any real damage.
