You have to be very careful with distances shown on the Lake maps. For example Trout Tarn is described as being the best part of a mile upstream of Swallowdale ( ChapterXV) which would show Swallowdale as being nearly half a mile long on the same map not 100 yards as stated in the text. On that scale Wild Cat would be about a mile long!
