I don't know why this should be, but certainly the picture I get by clicking on the link in the Tarboard posting, is visibly not as clear and clean as the (theoretically identical?) one I get by pasting the url into Safari, on the Mac. IE would presumably show the same difference.
There must be some technical reason- I thought it might be because the Tarboard link takes you to a more compressed image, but as the file sizes are identical that doesn't look like the answer. But the differerence is real, and isn't particularly subtle.
