It is, of course, AR's skill as a writer that makes the all of the children so very plausible and credible. It is just so easy to think that they were real, and that their activities really happened. So we anoraks [ I don't mind being an AR anorak] go off looking for where the events "happened", and speculate at length about them, because it's fun.
