The children's author William Mayne is to be sentenced today following his being found guilty of various indecent assaults on children. Nicholas Tucker has an interesting article in the Independent today in which he writes about other male writers' involvement with children, interestingly making the point that authors appear less likely rather than more to, er, go beyond the bounds of decency. And he writes about the way Ransome gained inspiration from the Altounyans and Collingwoods. The link is:
