Well, a wonderful job on Anne of Green Gables is in the eye of the
beholder I guess. The first movie was tolerable, the second deviated
significantly from the books. I say tolerable because it was an enjoyable
movie, however, having a spouse who grew up in the area where AoGG is
set and is a major fan or the series, the TV movie considerably overdoes
the income levels of the characters amongst other liberties. In general I would say that the
S&W Forever videos of CC and BS are better done then any of the AoGG movies
except maybe the first. I would use extreme caution with the Disney
organization if we want movies that are true to the books.
That being said I think that the AR books are generally more conducive to
being made into movies as they tend to be set pieces while the AoGG had
more plot elements per book (longer time frames etc).
