Idly Googling Hull/Whitlock (authors of the 3 'Oxus' books - see AR biographies etc), I met up with Jessica- www.horse-sense.org. She is a US horse-expert, with magazine and just-published book and has an interest in Oxus/AR/TARS, so I rambled on:
"Hull/Whitlock interests (some of) us because of their dealing with actual realities of life (albeit from a middle-class & privileged view).. the 3 books, and 'riding' (I think I know enough not to use the term horse-riding) provide a different topic - but indisputably AR connected ... also the Devon/Cornwall locale would add to our 'holy' places-- resulting in perhaps some 'gatherings' or tours there (it hasnt happened so far..). The AR books seem to have resulted in a considerable proportion of Lake District tourism (not that it needed it) both within the UK, and for many other countries.."
