There was a thread a while back about Capt. Flint (in GN?, I believe) reminding John to make sure that the anchor rope was fastened in the boat. This was thought to be due to John's having made this error with the anchor chain in WDMTGTS.
However, it seems to be a common reminder from one boater to another- in SA, Titty remembers hearing John tell Susan about anchor ropes, and profits from that knowledge when she captures Amazon.
