The one daft bit is where she talks of the children shouting 'across the lakes' to each other. That would have saved the 'Beckfoot flag' misunderstanding in WH, for a start.

But of course it perfectly describes the iconic scene, also in WH, where the Ds are looking longingly from the upturned boat on shore, at the Ss and As signalling out by the island. "Peggy you donk!" The voice of the in crowd ringing out across the water. So near yet so far.
