Dear All:

Well I have just returned from a two week round the world trip that included a 6 day stay at Bank Ground.

I have stayed in the Holly Howe and I can say it is tremendous. The meals in the local pub were great.

We sailed to Wild Cat Island and left the boat in the boat house at Holly Howe.

I ran aground on a rock on the northern end of WCI as the Lake is low and I beleived Ransmome when he said the water was deep around the west side of the Island. It took 6 hours to sail to and from Holly Howe in a southerly breeze. Coniston is as dangerous a place to sail as I have ever seen for small craft.

We tipped the boat and the three of us took a dip into the lake. The water was no colder than the NSW south coast in spring.

It was tremendous fun.

We visited the museum and for some reason the sister hooks on Cochy are not moused, some one needs to point this out to them. It does not have a traveller.

We climbed KAchenjunga and had a wonderful day. Charlotte ate chocolate all the way up, Cadbury's; she was allowed two pieces every hour or so. The Yewdale Pub has picture of the mine skyway arrangements in their working glory. I will sketch the arrangement and put it on my web site. if you are going to Coniston do not eat at the yewdale but at the Black Bull, the cook at the Dead Dog is much better.

Ed it is the most beautiful place on earth. Save you pennies and go.

To the TARS members who helped with the time in England thank you very much. I am sorry I lost the rowlock and I did not steal the Swallows and Amazons Red Hat on purpose - it was an honest mistake. It was in my coat pocket, honest.

Charlotte learned to sail, she is not the politest of children, and I had to finally say, there is one Captain and I am it for the moment.

Poor Anne had to drive all over England as she picked up the car at Gatwick.

We had a wonderful time.

John
