I think that youare being a little too restrictive with your definition of "Mousing", Jon. As I understand it, any wire or cordage applied to secure a fitting from becoming undone or not fulfilling its function is "a mousing". A mouse is a small rodent which does not belong on a ship. On my ketch any shackle which is out of reach of me while on deck is moused, as are many of the rigging screws [the others have locknuts]. My only sisterhooks are on the burgee halyards, and are quite different animals to the hooks shown by Mike.
