An observation as to the behaviour of the Swallow characters,
as defined by CF himself, in CH 8 of SD:

"I don't like to think of their being a nuisance," said mother.

"They don't know how to be that, ma'am," said Captain Flint.

At least somebody seemed to believe in their natural goodness.
