You are quite correct. I momentarily confused in my mind the terms, "Pipette" and "Blowpipe". The trick with a blowpipe is to control the breath so that a constant flow of air goes through the pipe to the flame even while inhaling. And interesting trick. Try it blowing bubbles with a soda straw in a glass of water, and see if one can keep the bubbles flowing by using the supply of air stored in the cheeks while inhaling. It's quite a trick that is much easier with a blowpipe than with a straw, as the straw is much bigger and lets the air through much faster. The Pipette as you stated in your correction is used for measuring a minute quantity of liquid.

Sorry for the obvious error. First mistake I ever made. Yeah. Right. I may have just made another...

Thanks for getting that concept corrected.

As for the smoking of a pipe, there were more pipe smokers than I could have originally thought of. One that I had completely missed in just thinking about it before hand was the old fisherman at Sinbad's Creek that watched while Roger took a turn with brushing on the tar. He was a minor character, but still was a pipe smoker in the stories.

As for the use of OPIUM, yes, there was a reference to that substance, an accusation made by Nancy as they escaped from their guard that was sleeping one off. What I'm not sure of is how she was able to RECOGNIZE the smell of that guard's breath and to identify it as opium. How did she know what that stuff smells like anyway? In the books, that word, "opium", appears only that one time.

Thanks again, Kathy, for your help.
