Bill Wallace-King took Alex and I up to Landermere, right round the back of Mastodon Island (very tricky dinghy navigation!) past the site of the "Speedy" round Bridget Island and up to Witch's Quay by dinghy, the weekend before last. Great fun! Alex was delighted to observe "the last remains of the Speedy" - a barge's cast iron windlass - on the saltings.

Witch's Quay, like the Wade, is on a public footpath. "Vaut le visite", as Baedecker might have said.
