Erskine Childers was shot by the British after being convicted of supplying arms to the Irish rebels/patriots by importing them in his yacht "Asgard".
One of my favourite maritime authors is Carleton Mitchell, a very experienced American sailor and accomplished writer. He had the ability to describe situations with an economy of words, and put the reader right in the picture.
