Jim Brady in WD mentions the hazard of accepting offers of help which turn into claims for salvage, as happened to a friend who lost his yacht. Hence of course the Swallows are reluctant to accept any help.
And in CC there is a meeting with one of the “Yarmouth Wreckers” on the bank who offers to help them with the Teasel.
Probably AR had heard about “salvage” claims from fellow yachtsmen? He seems to be wary of offers to help!
