Last week I, at long last, had the chance to spend some time in the Lakes visiting Peel Island, The Dogs Home, The Igloo, Beacon Tarn and the Beacon along with a possible "Swallowdale", climbing the Old Man of Coniston (Kanchengunga) and paying my respects at Rusland Church - the last is a must if you can - a wonderfully peaceful place.
During the week I also took the Coniston Launch "S&A Cruise" - on a rather gloomy day but despite the weather it was well worth it - has to be recommended - run by a TAR just as enthusiastic (or sad as one of my friends commented!) as the rest of us - great for kids of any age - and you learn how to tie a bowline - darned clever these rabbits!!
