Take a look at the picture "On the Crosstrees" (or similar), about 3/4 into WDMTGTS. Also, one of the arguments that's been made in favour of gaff-rig rather than Marconi (Bermuda) is that the top part of a Marconi rig doesn't do very much any way because it's so small.
