That's a pretty good sized fly he's tying up. Looks like something I'd tie to fish for striped bass (a large salt water fish) in New England. Any ideas what he's planning to catch with that? Is that a streamer for large fresh water trout? pike? salmon?

think it's the Elver Fly, his own design for salmon, as described in his book Mainly About Fishing ( what a bargain of a book - must buy a few to give as christmas presents ) made using the feathers of the Vulturine Guinea fowl to mimic an elver.
