Just bought my first boat, a 1950s Walker Tideway dinghy! She's a very Ransomeish boat - 12 foot, clinker, and perhaps more of an Amazon than a Swallow as she is varnished wood with a centreboard.
However, before I can have the fun of doing her up (she seems pretty sound with mostly just cosmetic work needed, though no doubt there will be more to discover) I need to get hold of a road trailer.
I know quite a few people in TARS sail similar boats so I wondered if anyone can advise me about this. What makes, models etc do people recommend? I believe the weight to be somewhere around 350 pounds as this is the upper end of the range given by the class association. Is there anything in particular I have to bear in mind about trailing wooden boats? Also, does anyone have suggestions for good places to get hold of trailers, new or second hand? I have tried the internet boat sales sites and have not yet found anything suitable.
Many thanks!
