Not sure where Pam's posting from, but in the UK 'moral rights' are provided for by the Copyright etc Act 1988. These consist of the right of the author of the work to be identified as the author in any reproduction, and the right not to permit any derogatory treatment of the work. So if you write a book or an article and assign the copyright to someone else, you still have the right to be named as the author, and you can still prevent misuse of that work if someone edits it or alters it so as to take the mickey out of what you have written.
