As a child coming to the books for the first time, my least favourites were PD, ML and WDMTGTS. As an adult re-reading them, I have revised my view of WD but still have little time for the two fantasy adventures.

I think that one of the prime reasons I enjoyed the books as a child was the thought of being able to take part in similar adventures in real places (I had great fun poring over the maps of the Lakes to try and spot the sites - in a way the fact that they are now readily identifiable in various books would reduce the fun). PD & ML fell down in that I couldn't find most of the places on a map and could not imagine being involved in those adventures.

WD is perhaps too real and a touch scary for a child, but much more enjoyable for an adult. PD & ML do not work for me as adult stories because I still find them too unreal.

GN? I liked as a child because, as with the Lakes & Broads books (and SW) I could imagine taking part in the adventure.
