Mike - while I would agree that the Kenneth More version (which was on TV last week allowing me to see it again after a long time) was not up to much, the Robert Powell version made the effort to give Hannay the right South African background and was correctly set in 1914, with Scudder as a man. OK, it introduced yet another meaning for the title, and an unnecessary love interest, but it was much closer to the book than either of the earlier versions.
