Well they're certainly expensive, but fashionable? Dunno really, but they look just as baggy, and just as luridly coloured, as they always did. And I always follow Wainwright too - I like to blend into the landscape, although this is not ideal when you're stranded with a broken leg.

Still, I've got the hang of sailing rig now. On the principle of wearing clothes that are fit for little else, I shall turn up to crew for John Nichols wearing double-breasted blue blazer, with brass buttons neatly done up, white cap, white slacks, shiny shoes, and a huge 5-draw brass telescope (polished so that you can see your face in it). 'Ahoy there shipmate' I shall shout in my best RP, echoing along the lovely wooded shores of Coniston Water . . .
