Thanks for the Reviews! I hadn't realized that the London Review of Books put stuff on-line .. well I still think the 2 girls' stories are priceless, [and the other (Unfinished) one with the different parallel versions wasn't bad either (better than "Room at the Top")].
I think the Oxford story has a particular appeal for those of us (men) who were around Oxbridge in the short post-war single-sex era [all traces now totally vanished] and had perforce to deal with (and I use the phrase advisedly) Private School/Girton/Newnham girls and their somewhat peculiar if delightful attitudes .. now all totally vanished of course. The exquisite joke is that Larkin extended the Girls' boarding school conventions to University which may indeed have been true in 1914, but wasn't in 1950.
