I am dismayed that my definition for "jibboom" was entirely incorrect-I have been going through life thinking that a club was a jibboom. I'm sorry that my lack of knowledge caused confusion, and I'm grateful for the correction-it is always a thrill to learn a new bit of obscure nautical terminology.

I must also beg forgiveness for the misunderstanding between 'bent on' and 'depowering...' I have to agree that "depowering the main" is not a part of old-fashioned sailor speak. I must make a note to reduce in future my pedantry, which seems to always get me in trouble
