How lovely to read of a child's interest to result in the hand copying of the text. I understand that desire so very well, as by the time I was about nine years old, I too had a handwritten copy of S&A of my very own. Of course the machine readable versions that I have subsequently typed in have certain advantages, but that old hand written version was precious to me, as it meant I did not have to go back to the library to have my own. But it was worth every bit of effort it took to write it all out in my own handwriting. There was a great pride of accomplishment when finished, and a pride of ownership, as I now had my own personal copy that I could keep.

You have done my heart good to let me know that I was not the only one that felt the need to possess my very own copy, even if it meant I had to write it out myself.

Your account has brought back precious memories of those efforts. Thank you...
