I may be a little late, but I would like to reply to Mike Dennis`s original posting about access to the countryside.
The Countryside and Rights of Way (CRoW)Act is not aout allowing anybody to tramp through anybody else`s garden. It goes partway only to redress wrongs perpetrated on the poeple of England by the Enclosures Acts of the 17th and 18th centuries. Prior to these acts, the open spaces of England belonged to everybody and nobody. These acts allowed owners of adjoining lands to appropriate open country and claim title to them.
The CRoW Act merely gives some access to unimproved land over 600 metres above sea level ---hardly anybody`s garden. It merely gives rights to walk, stop and enjoy views and very little else. For example it doesn`t even give you the right to walk your dog if you have one.
Let`s hear no more nonsense about this subject.
