I don't see Peter Duck in Swallowdale as quite the usual run of "imgainary friend". There is no indication that he is a product of Titty's imagination from the start. While he is important to Titty in Swallowdale as a character in the "imaginary friend" way, he seems from Peter Duck to be a work of the GROUP'S collective imagination which Titty later picks up and runs with.
