Dutch and Belgian (Flemish at least) bicycles are quite different from anything else, massive and well adapted for riding in the aforementioned traditional balloon-like skirts and head-dresses - as you can still see Dutch ladies doing on occasion.

I've often been tempted to buy one and bring it home but they are quite expensive.

Bicycling an the Netherlands and Flanders is likewise easier and better than anywhere else, certainly far, far better than in England. Cycleways everywhere and the right of way - often enforced by traffic lights - when you meet cars. And of course it is flat.

In the happy days when there was a ferry from Felixstowe to Zeebrugge we quite often took bikes across for the weekend - with the wonderful facilities over there even our old Cambridge style bicycles and unfit legs could take you a remarkably long way.
