I have four of the books in Cape hardback, all in post-war impressions (S&A 1955, PD 1955, WDM 1955, PM 1951, all bought new 1957-9). I suspect that my PM (the 9th impression of the book overall and the sixth post-war impression) retains the layout of the original wartime edition.

A full page of text has 33 lines in S&A and PD, 34 in WDM, and 37 in PM. This is achieved by squeezing the lines closer together, reducing the top and bottom margins, and slightly reducing the size of type used for the running titles at the top of the page. In S&A the total front matter, including the endpaper map, occupies 17 sides, in PM only 9.
