some of us struggle to cope with steam language
I know what Laurence means:
‘Work to be done on Flying Scotsman includes stitch-repairing the cracked cylinder, replacing stays and firebars, washing out and stamping all plugs, remake blower valve spindle/body due to stripping of threads, de-scale and tighten up foundation ring, tighten atomiser T-pipe, de-fur cylinder cocks . . .’ (Steam Railway February)
But Laurence is right to object to the 'barn-megaparsec' stuff. Is this not what Ed once called a 'display of erudition'? Go get ‘em, LM! There is life on Tarboard!
