Perhaps it is this very diversity of subject matter that makes exploring this forum so delightful. We find out so much about so many different things from hopefully learned people who can speak of these things with some authority.

It is one of the fascinations of following the quest for "All Things Ransome" as even going through his books, we find outselves taught so many different topics. For one, I learned to sail just from reading Ransome, and I felt even as I set out on that first trial run with that new boat, that I did know what I was doing, remembering the advice of "Fingers! Fingers!" as I gripped the tiller. Even during the set-up of that sailing adventure, as I shipped the tiller, I was ever mindful to make special care to ensure that both pintles were properly seated in its proper gudgeon, because I remembered quite vividly what happened in SECRET WATER when they wound up with a bent rudder because that task was not done properly.

As for the diversity itself, we do have that glorious example provided by Lewis Carroll, who wrote: "It is time to talk of many things: of shoes, of ships, of sealing wax, of cabbages and Kings."

So you chaps keep up the good work. Continue to teach me awreddy. It has been fun...
