For a detailed web survey (now a contradiction in terms) of usage in the US and Canada, see here. Tonic and Pop, by the way, are quintessentially New England, where a "milk shake", to the unenlightened, is a "cabinet". Interestingly enough, throughout much of the South "Coke" is the preferred generic, but it's difficult to get a Coke in North Carolina or a Pepsi in Georgia. Canadians (randomly surfing ones, at least) seem to prefer "pop".

For the semi-drinkable category, no one votes for Irn Bru or its cousin Cape Breton Bru?
